On July 1st, Hubert and I were given a few copies of our band’s debut CD. Today, we took possession of all 1,000 copies. We are Rachel Bazooka.

A BANNER DAY BY ANY STANDARD

Today was wowtastic! Received a bright green safety cone drawn on by Robyn Hitchcock, as well as my official copyright certificate for The Boxler Letters, and acquired the long awaited Archives box set by Neil Young. Will rest tomorrow.

Did a fun interview with Jay Thomas on Sirius Radio Wednesday on Tiny Tim’s teeth, which I now own. They even played a track by my old band The Volares!

THE MOST SHOCKING NEWS OF ALL

I have joined a fitness center and have a personal trainer. I’ve been working out for 2 weeks, and this morning snapped my toothbrush in half. Super human!!

I’M A DEMOTAPECRAT

Tonight, September 4th, I went to an Obama rally at the All Good Cafe in Dallas. It was an informal gathering of local volunteers who teach people how to register voters. At first I was kind of bored, but as I listened to their stories, I realized I really wasn’t going to do anything about this election but vote. By the end of the presentation, I asked if I could speak, and they let me. I gave a short speech. It was my first political speech. It went over pretty well and I am still wondering what the hell happened. Anyway I got deputized to register voters. So watch out, I might register your ass.

BUSY BUSY ME IN NYC

Just spent 2 weeks up north doing some archival work for my good friends Chris and Tina from Talking Heads. Went through about 40 boxes of truly amazing stuff, fell in love with the mid-70’s new wave movement all over again. We met Ian Hunter and his wife Trudy on July 29th in Danbury, Connecticut for a nice Italian lunch.

WHERE I WENT WRONG

When I was a small child, my parents took me to the circus. After watching all the clowns and elephants and jugglers, I decided to run away and join Reality.

ON THE SET: DAY ONE

Today was my first day on the job in the set production department on a movie set. Very surreal day, not just because people were walking around in nutty outfits like it was perfectly normal, but because I was actually doing physical labor for the first time in my life. Just remember, that HOLLYWOOD sign in L.A. didn’t get dropped off by the Easter Bunny; some poor guy had to build it, paint it, intsall it. Don’t know who that person was, but they REALLY want to direct.

HOLY ANNIVERSARY!

35 years ago tonight, on May 18, 1973, I saw Led Zeppelin for the very first time, on the Dallas stop of their Houses Of The Holy tour. I still have my ticket stub. I rememebr I took my mom’s Instamatic, bravely stood in the aisle and took ONE PICTURE, and scurried back to my seat. One picture. 3 years ago tonight, my band The Volares released our second album, Godvertising, and Buddy Miles drummed with us at our release party. And today, I had my first multi-vendor record fair, About To Pop, in Dallas. Something about 5/18….
